More than seventy generous people regularly volunteer their time with us. We hold them in highest esteem.
Nada regularly visits Sue at Gilgunya, our hostel in Coburg. Nada not only keeps Sue connected with her religious community, they have become true friends.
We asked Nada why she volunteers:
“I didn’t know it was Sue then, but at that time she was a woman in the waiting room my kids and I frequently saw when visiting my Dad. Months later I decided I wanted to do something for myself and for my community. You know, help others. A leader in my community said there was a woman at a nursing home. It took a few goes to get things started and then one day as I’m walking towards her I automatically recognised it was the same lady from the waiting room. That’s how our connection started. I said ‘it’s you!!’ It was a wow factor moment; we say SubhanAllah. Now we see each other once a week. We talk about making pilgrimage to Mecca. Anything’s possible.”
