Wintringham Quality Manager Zoe Jordan went on a study tour towards the end of last year to understand international quality frameworks, explore funding structures, and discover innovative care models that could enhance Wintringham’s approach.
"I focused on identifying care models that drove positive outcomes and could be adapted to improve Wintringham’s service delivery," Zoe said.
Zoe travelled for two months visiting Singapore, Japan, Thailand, USA, Canada, Norway, the UK and Ireland on what she said was the “study tour of a lifetime”, thanks to the Bryan and Dot Lipmann Scholarship. Throughout her travels, she engaged with leading institutions like King’s College London, Bergen University in Norway, and ALONE in Ireland, exchanging insights and presenting Wintringham’s unique care model.
"Being able to provide insight into Wintringham’s fundamentally unique model of care with the world was very humbling and opened more opportunities to exchange insights," Zoe said.
Her key areas of focus during her study tour included:
• Staff education and training
• Equity vs equality in service access
• Person-centred models of care
• Lived experience and service co-design
• Funding constraints and innovation
• Psychosocial and clinical care integration.
A highlight of her trip was the Rising Women Leaders Programme in Cambridge, where Zoe connected with inspiring women worldwide. "It was so enlightening to be mingling and in amongst like-minded, admirable and inspirational women from all over the world and from multiple industries. The knowledge and confidence I gained from attending this programme was invaluable," she said.
The study tour reaffirmed Zoe’s belief in Wintringham’s model of care. "Our model stands out as one of the best models of care globally, and I’m excited to apply new insights to push for further innovation at Wintringham," she said.
Zoe’s tour has strengthened Wintringham’s international connections and sparked new ideas for growth. "There were so many proud moments, but being able to take what we do at Wintringham to the world and receiving such positive and amazing responses was simply the best experience of all."
