Wintringham was given the great privilege to attend the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety in Perth on Tuesday 25 June, which focused on person centred care.
Our CEO Bryan Lipmann AM and Gilgunya Residential Site Manager Kate Rice provided examples of best practice in the sector, using their 30-plus years experience working with older people from a homeless background.
Not only are we grateful to be able to share some personal statements that demonstrate how Wintringham provides services, but also use this opportunity to advocate for our clients and all older people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Bryan and Kate’s contribution on our organisation’s behalf will hopefully impact countless elderly homeless in need of a home until stumps for years to come; a legacy Wintringham is extremely proud of.
Excerpt from Bryan’s Statement: “Many or most of our clients have very little contact with family. Our response has been to consciously create small communities where the staff and residents are equally valued. Perhaps it has become family-like.”
