The Award acknowledges Bryan's outstanding contribution to the life of Melbourne through the work of the company he founded and continues to run - Wintringham Specialist Aged Care.
Since its inception 1989, Bryan has ensured that Wintringham has focused its expanding housing and aged care services on older people facing the horrors of homelessness. The company is renowned for providing permanent exits to homelessness and for applying social justice principles in all it does.
"I am overwhelmed by the unexpected honour of this," Bryan said, "but I am also glad to live in a city where the importance of Wintringham's work is understood and supported.
"I am very proud of our work," he said. "We are a successful not-for-profit business ensuring that older citizens, regardless of income or lifestyle, receive the quality and range of services they are entitled to."
