Wednesday 7 September, was an exciting day as Wintringham officially received the keys to our first inter-state residential aged care home in Bellerive, Hobart. The Hon. Guy Barnett, Tasmanian Minister for Housing was there to officially open the purpose-built site and welcome our new Hobart team.
Michael Deschepper, Deputy CEO who represented Wintringham on the day, said: "We’re grateful to have been selected through the tender process to manage this beautiful site and to provide a holistic response to service the needs of older men and women experiencing homelessness.”
On Tuesday 4 October, staff opened the doors for the first time to ‘Wintringham Hobart’ and its first residents were warmly welcomed. Forty older Tasmanians who are experiencing or vulnerable to homelessness will call this new site home.
“We have been busy planning for this day which has been years in the making. This is a huge milestone for Wintringham, that could only have been made possible thanks to our cooperative partnership with the Tasmanian Government. Our work officially starts now. We can’t wait to make a difference to the lives of older Tasmanians in need and make this building a home!" Wintringham CEO/Founder Bryan Lipmann AM said. "Thank you to every team across our organisation who has been instrumental in helping us get to this point. We now pass the baton onto our enthusiastic new Tassie team, and we warmly welcome Wintringham’s newest residents.”
